چکیده

This research investigates the feasibility of applying the code and the ionosphere-free code and phase delay observables for single frequency Precise Point Positioning (PPP) processing. Two observation models were studied: the single frequency ionosphere-free code and phase delay, termed the quasi-phase observable, and the code and quasi-phase combination. When implementing the code and quasi-phase combination, the cross-correlation between the observables must be considered. However, the development of an appropriate weight matrix, which can adequately describe the noise characteristics of the single frequency code and quasi-phase observations, is not a trivial task. The noise in the code measurements is highly dependent on the effects of the ionosphere; while the quasi-phasemeasurements are basically free from the effects of the ionospheric error. Therefore, it is of interest to investigatewhether the correlation between the two measurements can be neglected when the code measurements were re-introduced to constrain the initial parameters estimation and thereby improving the phase ambiguities initialization process. It is revealed that the assumed uncorrelated code and quasi-phase combination provided comparable if not better positioning precision than the quasi-phase measurement alone. The level of improvement in the estimated positions is between 1 − 18 cm RMS.

Measurements of the dual frequency Global Positioning System (GPS) receivers can be used to calculate the electron density and the total electron content (TEC) of the ionosphere layer of the Earth atmosphere. TEC is a key parameter for investigating the ongoing spatial and temporal physical process of the ionosphere. For accurate estimation of TEC from GPS measurements, GPS satellites and GPS r...

A Reference Point-based Precise Relative Positioning Method Using a Single Frequency Receiver

This paper investigates how to take advantage of the known position of a point at which a single frequency GPS receiver is located. Using this reference point and a single frequency receiver, a precise relative positioning method is developed. This method is particularly suited for the applications whose accuracy requirements are relaxed as time passes. In some circumstances, one requires a far...

The Impacts of the Ionospheric Observable and Mathematical Model on the Global Ionosphere Model

A high-accuracy Global Ionosphere Model (GIM) is significant for precise positioning and navigating with the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS), as well as space weather applications. In this contribution, the undifferenced ambiguity-fixed carrier-phase ionospheric o...

Development and Positioning Accuracy Assessment of Single-Frequency Precise Point Positioning Algorithms by Combining GPS Code-Pseudorange Measurements with Real-Time SSR Corrections

We have developed a suite of real-time precise point positioning programs to process GPS pseudorange observables, and validated their performance through static and kinematic positioning tests. To correct inaccurate broadcast orbits and clocks, and account for signal delays occurring from the ionosphere and troposphere, we applied State Space Representation (SSR) error corrections provided by t...

Real-Time Single Frequency Precise Point Positioning Using SBAS Corrections

Real-time single frequency precise point positioning (PPP) is a promising technique for high-precision navigation with sub-meter or even centimeter-level accuracy because of its convenience and low cost. The navigation performance of single frequency PPP heavily depends on the real-time availability and quality of correction products for satellite orbits and satellite clocks. Satellite-based au...
